Our Minister • Rev. Elwood Sturtevant

elwood sturtevant    Our minister, the Rev. Elwood R. Sturtevant, began his ministry at TJ in September, 1987.  A graduate of Stanford University and Stanford Law School, Elwood left the practice of law in 1983 to attend Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley, where he received his M. Div. Degree in 1987.  He is a past president of the Ohio Valley UU District, and of the OVUUD UU Ministers Association Chapter. He has also served on the UUA’s Youth Programs Review Task Force and UUA Youth Council, and chaired the Midwest UU Conference and the Heartland District Nominating Committee.  He was a founding member of Religious Leaders for Fairness, the (Louisville) Metropolitan Housing Coalition and Interfaith Paths to Peace, and has served as Board Chair of Eastern Area Community Ministries, on the board of Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky, and as a member of the Healing Possible Quorum.  While at TJ, he has mentored several UU ministers including the Rev. Jafarzadeh who currently serves St. John’s Unitarian Church in Cincinnati. Elwood is married to Roxanne Sturtevant; they have two adult children, both of whom were active in the RE program at TJ when they were younger.Call him at the church office at 502-425-6943.

Music Director • Frank Richmond

frank richmondFrank is a stellar pianist and is part of the service almost every Sunday morning. He is also a composer and quite often plays his own compositions. We have both the TJ Choir (mixed) and a Women’s Choir. If you are interested in singing or participating in the music program in any way, he’s the one to talk to!  Call him at the church at 502-425-6943.

Janet comes to us from Atlanta, Ga. where she worked in healthcare as an R.N. in direct patient care, programming and community development.  She is here at T.J. to discover what will make involvement in our faith community more meaningful.
